I was down with the flu last week and unfortunately, Nikhita caught the bug too...from me I guess. Yesterday she threw up her milk...all of it. And her body got suddenly very warm. So I checked her temperature and sure enough, a fever! Tried to give her some paracetamol but she threw that up too and the fever climbed to 38 deg.C.
Since it was the first time she got sick, I naturally panicked. Called the ped who told us to bring her in. He pushed a pessary for fever up her bum and armed us with enough different types of meds for cough, phlegm and fever but to be used only when necessary.
Her fever spiked to 39 deg.C. at 11 pm and we spent the next 2 hours wiping her down with wet towels, after dosing her with some more paracetamol. Poor Nikhita was of course whining and crying in cold discomfort. We stopped when her fever was down to 38 deg. and she fell gratefully asleep.
She was much better this morning and by 3 pm, her fever was gone but she's developed a cough (exactly how I normally progress myself when I get the flu). She was her usual cheery self this evening so hopefully the worse is over!
