Nikhita is 1

Nikhita turned 1 on 24th February.

My little baby is now a little girl.
She insists on walking instead of crawling.
She feeds herself snacks of biscuits and cheerios.
She can hold and drink from her own cup.
She holds my hairclip out to me
when she sees me begin to put up my hair.
She doesn't speak any discernible words but will babble unceasingly,
with feeling.
She can climb up onto the sofa and down again
expertly.
She can almost put 2 pieces of Lego bricks together.
She likes to flip the pages of magazines.
She loves her stuffed toys and music boxes the most...
...but will abandon those for non-toy options
like plastic drink bottles and my drafting rulers.
She takes time off her busy play day
to stand and watch the neighbourhood go by.
Her favourite game is 'peek-a-boo' (of course)
and being swung by her legs is a close second.

She has a cry that can break my heart,
or irritate,
depending on the situation.
And when she laughs,
all is right in my world .

Best of all,

she has a personality streak as stubborn as her parents'...
... determined, is what she is,
and woe to anyone who tries to stand in her way
(to be addressed in a timely and appropriate manner).
